Since today is Father’s Day, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all the dads out there a happy one. For the past twelve years this has been a very difficult day for me. My father passed away from lung cancer on May 5, 2000. He was a wonderful man and dad. We spent a lot of time together when I was a very young girl. I like to think that I am very much like him in many ways.
We both loved animals, art and cars. In fact, I blame my dad for the fact that I am an absolute lunatic with my cars! I miss my dad but mostly feel regret for the fact that he didn’t live to see his grandchildren become the successful adults they are today. I cried at my son’s graduation from medical school out of pride and sadness that my father didn’t get to experience this wonderful moment. I regret that my father didn’t get to see his granddaughter become a success in her career and live all over the world.
Anyway, just wanted to wish all the wonderful dads out there a Happy Father’s Day! Enjoy your day with family, friends and loved ones because that is the greatest gift of all……time spent with those you love and who love you!
